Plant health students - language courses

Starting in the 2025/26 academic year, students enrolled in the Erasmus Mundus PlantHealth Joint Master Degree programme will be able to obtain 1 credit for the “LANGUAGE COURSE –OUTGOING” included in their study plans only by passing an A1 or A2 level Language Proficiency Test (TAL) administered by the CLA.

There will be 8 Italian test sessions per academic year, for both level A1 and level A2 (dates will be posted on the CLA website). Each student has a maximum of 6 attempts per academic year to pass the test.

> How to register

Students can register for the test independently on the Language Ability Tests (TAL) page.

Registration for the tests opens approximately 3 weeks before each exam session and generally closes one week before the tests, unless all available places are filled earlier.

> Attendance and study material

Attendance at a course is not compulsory, but students who do not already have the required language level can take advantage of the learning opportunities offered by the CLA:

  • Online preparation material (self-study) available on the Moodle CLA platform, which will be updated during the academic year 2025/26: currently, there is a preparation course for TAL level A2, but from December 2025, specific preparation materials for TAL level A1 will also be available.
  • Mock test, already available for level A2, it will also be available for level A1 from December.
  • Intensive Italian courses* of 30 hours spread over 2/3 weeks, held in September, February and July.
  • Biannual Italian courses* of 30-40 hours spread over 2/3 months during the first and second semesters.

*All students are entitled to attend one Italian language course. If students wish to attend more than one course, they may register, but attendance will be subject to availability.

> Results and CFU recognition

Test results are published within one week of the test on the TAL Results page.

If the student passes, they will receive an Open Badge (a virtual certificate that can also be downloaded as a PDF), while the CLA teaching office will communicate the test results to the Joint Master's Degree coordinators for subsequent credit recognition.
